Have you ever wondered?
Blue Skies and salty air
Roaring sea and messy hair
White Sand and Beach Huts
Starry Nights and Coconuts
Lost??? Come with us and visit Andaman! I assure you will never regret!
Excited???
Let’s plan
Andaman Travel Bag Check: Pack up your nice beach clothes especially some cotton clothes as you are going to sweat a lot at these places. Carry a water bottle to avoid dehydration at all the times. In cosmetics, don’t forget to add a waterproof sunscreen as sun glazes at its worst in sea. Please keep your entire makeup waterproof!!!
Andaman Travel Mode Check: If you are from Kolkata, a direct flight from Kolkata to Portblair is the quickest way to reach there. Average ticket cost ranges from Rs 4000-5000/-. From Delhi, you have to take a connecting flight via Kolkata, Bangalore or Chennai where average ticket cost ranges from Rs 5000-7500/-. As far as trains are concerned, no direct trains from any part of India are available to Andaman. You may explore coming to Chennai by train and then booking ferry to portblair, but it is too time taking and hence not advisable.
Andaman Travel Wallet Check: Apart from tickets to reach, you may expect an expense of Rs 10000/- per day at a max!
Hotels: Budget hotels at a price as low as Rs 2000/- are available at portblair. You may expect some hike in prices at Havelock and Neil, where an average hotel ranges from Rs 3000- 5000/-.
Food: Average food cost Rs 500/- per person at portblair. Havelock and other island where food and fuel is brought through ferries only, this is a bit pricey, but still you can get a good meal in Rs 1000/-.
Andaman Travel Tuktuk Check: All over the Andaman, you may find Cabs @ Rs 2000- 2500 per day. You may also rent bikes and scooty for Rs 500-1500/-. For local tours cycles are also available.
Andaman Travel Master Plan:

Day 1:
Arrival at Portblair. Acclimatization and local sightseeing.
Estimated Time: 1 day
Estimated Expense: Rs 4000/- (Including Rs 1000/- for food; Rs 2000/- for Car hire ; Rs 1000/- other expenses like Cellular Jail Ticket: Rs 80/- (Rs 30 entry & Rs 50 for light & show); etc)

‘My Doctor said: I need it badly- Vitamin Sea’
And see we are here. Portblair often remembered for Kalapani in history is no more horrifying us. People from all round the world come to Andaman to visit its indigenous flora and fauna.
So we will start our day with Portblair local sightseeing which we will divide in 2 days. 1st half day today, because usually its afternoon when you land here and 2nd half on the last because it is the afternoon when you will get your flight again.
So after our lunch, today we are going to spend our day out at Cellular Jail which has been converted into a monument now. It still speaks the dreaded stories of our freedom fighters. You may hire a guide to tour around or may book a light and sound show in the evening to feel the vibes.
Let’s end our day with this and rest a little as journey on a cruise should be relaxed one.
You may experience a cruise dinner this night.
Day 2:
Cruise experience. Heading towards Havelock Island
Estimated Time: 2 Days
Estimated Expenses: Rs 10000/- (Including Rs 1000/- for food; Rs 2000/- for Car hire; Rs 7000/- other expenses like SCUBA: Rs 3500-5000/- Snorkeling: Rs 500/- Fun water sports: Rs 500-1000/- etc)
Transport: You may hire a private car, bike or scooty for local site seeing.
We are starting our day 2 with a cruise journey to Havelock. It is advisable to do this journey empty stomach and have some tablets as you may experience vomiting if weather is bad.
Watching sea waves so close it is an experience which most of terrain people like us have never experienced. So be excited to spend these 2-3 hours with roaring waves of the sea, enjoying your favorite music and just chilling…
After reaching Havelock, we will plan a little break and have our lunch.
After our lunch, 1st of all we are going to Radha Nagar Beach which is close to my heart. I have never seen a beach so calm yet appealing in my lifetime.
The sea waves here are rythmic and predictable unlike other beaches. The blue sea water with sun rays shining like pearls makes it so beautiful that I still can’t forget that moment.
You can wander around the island on a scooty, bike or booked car.
There is a changing room at the beach itself. So just have your beach apparel and go.
After enjoying the beach for 2-3 hours you may have your evening tea and maggi at the shops nearby.
At night, do plan a candle light dinner with the hotel.
With sea waves whisper, soulful music and your soul mate, I bet you will remember this night forever.
Day 3:
Havelock local sightseeing.
Estimated Time: Same as Day 2
Estimated Expense: Same as Day 2
Transport: Same as Day 2
This day we are going to do some water activities. SCUBA is my favorite. But you may also explore snorkeling, sea walk, banana ride and many more.
So we are heading towards 3 beaches today. 1 is kalapathar beach where we are going to see the sun rise.
After that we will head toward vijaynagar beach where lots of water sports are waiting for us. I think we must have a SCUBA dive here. Watching corals and other flora and fauna close in their habitat is a truly speechless experience.
And don’t get disheartened if you don’t know swimming. SCUBA trainers and divers are always there to assist you. So just stay calm and enjoy the beauty of the sea and their habitants.
After this dive, I would prefer a good lunch at sea side before heading towards our last beach for the day.
Elephant beach where we are going for a snorkeling or a sea walk. In snorkeling you can breathe above the water with the snorkel and can see underwater at the same time. In sea walk, you will be given a ball to be placed on the head so that you can comfortably breathe in sea. If you were scared of SCUBA, do try this.
Almost all the hotels have sea facing entrances at the island. You may enjoy a walk at night on any of the shores. Stars in the sky, roars of sea and a walk in the sand, you will not get this opportunity everyday!
Day 4: Heading towards Neil Island
Estimated Time: 2 Days
Estimated Expenses: Rs 10000/- (Including Rs 1000/- for food; Rs 2000/- for Car hire; Rs 7000/- other expenses like SCUBA: Rs 3500-5000/- Snorkeling: Rs 500/- Fun water sports: Rs 500-1000/- etc)
Transport: You may hire a private car, bike or scooty for local site seeing.
So again on a cruise, heading to Neil island. Often known as vegetable bowl of Andaman, this is a less touristy island.
After our lunch today, we will head towards Howrah Bridge which is formed by living natural corals. The bridge can be seen at the best during low tides.
You can see variety of flora and fauna trapped during low tides here.
Star fish, sea cucumber, sea urchin, zebra fish, lobster, sea leech etc can be viewed easily.
To see the sunset we are going to laxmanpur beach which is famous for its sunset point.
You may explore the city on foot in the evening today as we will start early tomorrow to see the sunrise at Sitapur beach.
Day 5:
Neil local sightseeing, way back to Port Blair
Estimated Time: Same as Day 4
Estimated Expense: Same as Day 4
Transport: Same as Day 4
After watching the pious sunrise at Sitapur beach, we will have our breakfast and will head towards bharatpur beach where we can find glass boat ride, snorkeling, SCUBA and lots of water sports.
Soak yourself with the sea water fun for half of the day as after lunch we are heading back to portblair.
Day 6:
Port Blair Local Sightseeing. Heading Back to Kolkata.
Estimated Time: Same as Day 1
Estimated Expense: Same as Day 1
Transport: Same as Day 1
After the cruise ride, we will prefer to relax in the night and will head towards Corbyn’s cove in the morning to see our last sunrise on the beach (Off course for this trip onlyJ)
Amazing na? Truly…
After breakfast, we are going to see Samudrika Naval Marine Museum which is maintained by Navy. My personal favorite was the gallery with Corals and Sea shells. With a blue whale skeleton in the front, this place is must visit before departure.
Come on, we have to rush back to the airport now.
Feeling like never leaving this place?
I know beaches will never allow you to go back!
Island will call you again! Till then don’t be disheartened! We will meet again at some other place!
